Lasagne provided by the parents proved most popular and was enjoyed by everyone.
In the absence of Mathew Parsons, who was away on a sailing course, Eilish Thomas as the senior youth sailor took on the responsibility of thanking the parents and members for their support throughout the previous year and included a message from Mathew regretting his absence.
Wynne and Ian were presented with ‘Ancient Mariner’ and ‘Captain’ caps and Diana and Isabelle received flowers as a thank you for all their commitment /efforts.
Eilish assisted by Aled Parsons then ran a very thought provoking quiz, whilst the parents adjourned to the kitchen to tackle the washing up
A jolly evening was enjoyed by all

T.B.C.Regatta 2009
Monday, July 27th, 2009The promised weather was heavy rain all day but the sailors of the TBC were very lucky that there was no rain and we even saw some sunshine, the wind was constant and at the right strenght so a excellent afternoon’s sailing was had by all.
Dinghies raced in the head of the river and dispite the usual Teifi tidal problems and sandbanks Four races were held over three slightly different courses, allowing both the Slow Handicap and Fast Handicap fleets to sail together, giving all classes of dinghies a good crack at the results and being able to discard their poorest result, with three races to count.

Well Done TBC Youth Sailors
Thursday, July 16th, 2009On Saturday 11th July TBC hosted one of the WYA West Wales Youth Club Racing events
The forecast heavy rain did not arrive till well after the event was over, so in medium winds and even some sunshine young sailors from the TBC and other parts of West Wales enjoyed close racing in the channel between the narrows and the bar below the Cliff Hotel.
Four races were held with sailors in Optimists, Toppers and a mixed fleet of Lasers and a Byte. Conditions were ideal for dinghy racing even though the last race did offer significant tidal problems getting to the windward mark and exciting conditions in the surf over the sand bar.
One race was allowed as a discard so the best three results for each sailor counted for the final scores.
Optimist Class – Harry Upton recorded three wins out of the four races and was the winner in his class with his brother Harvey following two visiting sailors home to take forth place. Tom Renny and William Dauncey in the their very first race and sailing outside the safety of the head of the river for the very first time, competed two races but the tide and time got the better of them both and that sat out the last two races. Happy with their venture into racing – they’ll be back.
Topper Class - Hanna Campbell was on top form taking four straight wins and the overal honours. Fellow TBC sailor Daniel Rowlands came third enjoying perhaps more time than neccessary in the surf.
Laser and Open Class – Visiting Ben Dancer (Laser)was in unbeatable form and led Wyn Jones (Laser) second and Aled Parsons (Byte) third in the Handicap fleet.
An excellent days sailing was had by all and thanks must also go to The Tresaith Mariners and the Cardigan Divers who supplied and crewed Safety Boats to make the event possible and the Mums in the kitchen who provided breakfast before racing and lunch after.
Rowing Regatta
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009A great day for the Rowers and a great for the TBC
Rowers travelled from all over Wales to compete in the ‘Round the Island’ Regatta and the club was full to bursting with competitors and their supporters. The weather was just right being not to hot and the sea conditions were just perfect.
Four races – Ladies – Men’s – Youth and Mixed crews, saw the final race with 15 starters spread just off Poppet Beach. great viewing from the cliff top and the spit with the finish line set across the narrows.
A really good atmosphere, with excellent food from an all day BBQ and catering from the kitchen made the day into a rewarding triumph for all those who had worked so hard preparing for the event and a reward would be a repeat event next year.
Well done everyone – see you all next year!
Youth Squad update
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009Last Sunday several of the Youth Squad travelled to Neyland Yacht Club for the forth in the West Wales Club Youth Dinghy Racing series
Hanna Campbell was unable to make the event to attempt to continue her winning series but The Topper fleet was still led home by a TBC sailor – Eilish Thomas took time out from her Welsh National Squad duties to record a win and her brother William finished in a well deserved 4th
The Optimist fleet had the TBC Upton brothers Harry and Harvey competing – Harry just missed out on First after a results countback and younger brother Harvey finished 3rd.
Wyn Jones having finished his A Level exams sailed his Laser in the Handicap fleet – missed out on a placing but had an enjojable sail a great break from studies
Next weekend is the Welsh Schools Regatta at Tenby with several TBC youngsters competing and several other club members assisting in the actual regatta
